Drawing inspiration from celebrated Australian architects Glenn Murcutt and Richard Leplastrier the Federal Studio is a stripped back dwelling nestled in the hinterland of Byron Bay.
Using raw materials like iron, spotted gum hardwood and concrete the Federal studio emphasises simplicity and functionality and compliments its rural surroundings. The studio has high ceilings and louver windows throughout, allowing for ventilation in warmer months. High windows on the north and eastern facades provide plenty of natural sunlight to enter the living and dining areas.
The reuse of hardwood timber from the existing shed helps minimize the buildings carbon footprint.
